AIEEE 2011 paper has been re-scheduled on the same day (1 May 2011) to start from 12- 3 PM (1st Paper) and 4-7 PM (2nd Paper) due to leakage of the papers at multiple places per media reports. CBSE has learnt its lessons pretty well from 2004 paper leak and keep another sets of papers for such eventualities, which would be utilized this year.

Dear Mr. Tyagi,
It was a great surprise today morning when I called up my son at 9 AM who is also appearing for AIEEE that the timings have been re-scheduled. Your post has given me an insight, the reason for the timing change.
This shows the level of corruption in our country. Those parents who resort to such means for putting their sons/daughters into NIT must also think of other sincere & deserving students who slog day & night to get into NIT.
In my opinion rich parents should not just throw money for their children’s to make him / her an engineer. Instead, they need to evaluate their child & see whether he/she really deserves to be an engineer or some thing else.
I sincerely thank you for this post.
Regards,
NK Das

Sir,
What is the difference between Mechanical and production engineering. Is Production Engineering in good demand ?
Posted by nrispeaks on May 21, 2011 at 12:35 pm
Production engg is an off-shoot of Mech Engg. While Prodn engg focuses on manufacturing (and industrial process and management; Mechanical Enn envelops Production engg and additional studies of mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, materials science and energy.

Dear Sir, My son in AIEEE 2011 got AIR 39000+ and State Rank 690. He is from Tamil nadu. Is there any state quota is there and how much is the %? Will he get a chance in NIT trichy with his state rank. I have checked last year and 2009 it looks ok for him. Can you tell me? Thanks

Yes, NRI’s state quota relates to the address in the passport and in your case 50% seats in NIT-T would be reserved for state quota (not in TN state colleges). I really do not track state ranks and cannot say much about the chances.
