    Dear Mr. Tyagi,
Do you have any update on when DASA applications need to be submitted for 2010-11?
    Regards
    Sivadas

    • Dear Siva,

There is no noticification from EdCIL as yet on DASA. In any case, there is enough time left for it and we would update it as soon as it is published. Last year the form submission date was 30 June. Please stay tuned on this page.
      Regards

    Hi,

Would like to get hold a list of brokers for admission in Medical college through NRI quota. Can u help?

    sheila

    • Dear Sheila,

I knew few brokers, however, many of my candidate references did enquire a lot with the brokers but finally settled somewhere else. So you can say my reputation with the brokers community is not good and therefore, I can’t help much on this.
Having said that, I can’t say a simple ‘No’ as you have come on this board with some hope. In case, you are desparate for a reliable broker and also decided to join in one of the Mumbai colleges, I can give it a chance. The broker works in mantralaya (clerk in some ministry) and ‘appear’ to have good influence. Please note that I would not be go-between and would not have anything to do with any outcome.
      Good luck
      Raj

    Thank you Raj.

I was looking more down south and had narrowed down KMC, Manipal, RMC, Chennai and Ramaiah Medical college, Bangalore.
    Any suggestions with broker there?

Since you mentioned Mumbai colleges, I’ll check them out and get back to you.

    sheila

    • Dear Sheila,
You have done your homework very well in selecting the target colleges. For KMC and RMC the admission process is quite transparent and no need to go thru any broker. Ramaiah is a different case- I would still suggest to do the ‘talks’ yourself as NRI admissions are relatively easier than management quota.
      Good luck

    Dear Sir

Can people studying in Gulf Countries like Baharain. kuwait, Qatar in CBSE schools can write exam for any central govt. AIPMT / Manipal Institute for Engg. / Medicine under General Category ? If selected under merit list , can they pay the amount as applicable to local Indian Student as per Manipal University Rules. For Example. : for medicine as per MANIPAL UNiversity is Rs. 21 lakhs whereas under NRI quota the same is 1,50,000 USD for 4.5 years course.

    Please clarify the above.

    • Dear Rao,

Yes, NRIs candidates can appear for exams like AIPMT, Manipal, AIEEE, IIT and if qualify, can claim general seat at ‘normal’ fee.
With regard to your query on Manipal, following is noted in the Manipal prospectus
” Candidates can apply both under General and Foreign/ NRI category. Change of category from Foreign/NRI to General after admission will not be entertained under any circumstances. The application material given along with this prospectus can only be used to apply for these courses under the General Category.”
I encourage everyone on this board to browse thru applicable document/prospectus under NRI page/Download page first as key objective of this blog is to make it a self-service tool. However, unique queries are, as usual, most welcome.
      Regards
      Raj

    Dear Mr. Raj

My Son is giving his Board exam now for class XII in Sultanate of Oman and he is interested to join in any southern India colleges for doing engineering degree in mechanical. He is expecting to get good marks in 12th board exam, nearly 95%.

Could you please let me know, is there any chance to put him in Indian Colleges for Engineering degree under general quota, (i.e., equivalent to the fee stucture of any resident student in India) by writing any entrance examination?

Our son and we, parents are under NRI status for the past 12 years.

    Kindly respond.

    Regards,

    Lakshmi

    • Dear Lakshmi,
I hope your son has applied for AIEEE exam (there are other exams as well like IIT JEE, BITSAT and State CET) as the last date for form submission for these exams has passed since months. If he has not filled any form, then you can not get a general seat @ normal fees. In that case, DASA Scheme is the only hope and please don’t let go this opportunity as your son seems to be doing extremely well and can get any NIT and branch of your choice for the PCM% you are expecting. Please go thru DASA prospectus available on this site to know more about the scheme.
      Regards
      Raj

    • Dear Sanjiv,

I would recommend that you explore various posts and comments on this blog for the useful info available that concerns you. Please find below our inputs
      1) DASA scheme has been designed for NRIs children to get admissions to engg colleges in India (mostly NITs). Your daughters would need to give SAT II exam in Maths II, Physics and Chemistry to get into merit list of DASA scheme. The scheme is not for medical/BDS college and also not private or state govt engg colleges- it is only for NITs
      2) For BDS or MBBS, please read the below post and comments under it
