Dear Raj,
I have been following your web site for the past 1 month and appreciate your efforts in providing the clarification and crisp replies to the querries raised by various NRIs.Thanks!
Pl elaborate on the procedure of admissions to the institutes(non DASA schme, handled by EDCIL) is to be approached

Dear Krishnan,
Thanks for your compliments. Please go thru EdCIL website (refer: http://www.educationindia4u.nic.in/download.asp) and download Self-Financing Candidate application form. Before you send your draft and form to EdCIL, do check with them if the form on their website is suitable for 2010-11 academic year (it’s a public sector company and it’s always better to check with them). For non-DASA application, you may consider to apply yourself directly to your target institute as it’s allowed (unless you are a foreign national).
Regards
Raj

THANK YOU SIR FOR DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB.SIR I WILL BE PASSING +2 THIS YEAR FROM ABU DHABI.SIR I LIKE CHEMISTRY.CAN U PLEASE SUGGEST WHICH BRANCH’ES OF ENGINEERING WILL BE SUITABLE FOR ME.

To arrive on a proper career decision, first of all please decide why you like chemistry- is it because you get good marks in chemistry- or are you not very comfortable with other two subjects ie. physics/maths- or do you have a very genuine interest in learning the concepts behind the subject. Chemical Engineering is not only about chemistry but also requires fundamental application of physics (eg. thermodynamics) and lot of complex mathematical models involving topics like calculus. It also requires a lot of lab work/reports in college.
The bottomline is that if you genuinely like all of above, pursue this branch just like ‘Rancho’ and the rewards are truly awesome as Oil and Gas & Energy sector are well-paid sector. By the way, I work in a refinery and have interactions with Chemical Engineers on daily-basis.
